Protecting Your Accounts is a Combined Effort

As your bank, our goal is always to make you as confident as possible in banking with us and trusting that your money is protected. Fraudsters and cybercriminals are getting more and more sophisticated in their efforts to take over accounts and access your accounts. While there are many safeguards in place on our end in regards to firewalls and bank systems, ultimately we need your help as the account holder to be diligent in ensuring your accounts look correct. We offer products such as Positive Pay and CardValet to help you monitor your daily activity to make sure nothing looks out of place and catch any suspicious activity before it hits your account. These are products that you need to actively use for them to be as effective as possible.

Positive Pay works in conjunction with Online for Business. You submit an electronic file of all the checks your business has written each day. That file is then compared to checks as they come through for payment and any inconsistencies are flagged for you to review prior to them being paid. This system has already been successful in helping many of our businesses avoid check fraud. The cost of this program is mere pennies compared to what those fraudulent checks would have cost those companies in losses.

CardValet is used with your debit card. This free app allows you to turn your debit card off when you’re not using it, or to set location parameters to ensure it’s not used where you’re not currently located. I myself use this app and have found it provides me peace of mind and more confidence in using my debit card.

We know you’re not always able to be at your desk when you need to transfer money or approve transactions. That’s why we now offer Mobile Banking for Business. If you’re already an Online for Business customer, all you need to do is go to your app store and search for “cnbohio”. Download the Citizens National Bank Business App and start banking. It uses the same login credentials and token as your regular Online for Business access and you’ll have access to all the accounts you currently do through Online for Business. If you’d like to take advantage of depositing checks through your phone, contact our Online for Business specialist to get set up.

Protect Yourself from Malware – Look for the Green Bar!

134452677PC World reports that malware known as “Tiny Banker” has been customized to target banks. It often appears with the bank’s logo and asks for online banking users’ information. To be sure you’re safe, we encourage you to check the address bar when logging into Online Banking to be sure it turns green. An Extended Validation certificate, which appears as a green address bar, was added in April, which provides a visual confirmation that you are on a secure site.

The bank uses multiple channels of authentication to protect our customers’ information. At every log in attempt, we verify all the following:

– A valid User ID and Password

– The computer or mobile device must be recognized

– The geographic location

If any of these three do not match the customer’s existing profile, customers will be asked to answer a security question.

NEW Products for Business Customers

Elite Checking and Small Business Online for Business Package Now Available

Citizens National Bank is excited to announce new offerings for our business customers; Elite Checking, a personal checking account with special perks for business owners and a Small Business Package of Online for Business.

Elite Checking is our most comprehensive personal checking account, offering our highest level of benefits. It takes into account the total relationship, both business and personal balances, and offers benefits including unlimited ATM withdrawal surcharge rebates, a Platinum Visa credit card*, and an introductory rate on all balances of 0.35% APY**. According to Amy Yochum, VP Treasury Management, “We truly appreciate the trust our business owners put in our bank in regards to their business finances and we wanted to create an account that provided real value that they would expand that relationship to include their personal accounts. I’m confident Elite Checking does that.” Those interested in learning more about Elite Checking should contact their local CNB office.

Additionally, CNB has created a new Online for Business Package. Previously, the bank offered three options for business online banking:

  1. Basic – Customers can see both personal and business accounts with one login, transfer money between accounts and pay bills online.
  2. Basic Plus – Offers the additional capability of initiating wire transfers.
  3. Deluxe – offers full ACH capability, including electronic vendor payments and returns.

A fourth package option, Small Business, has been created to cater to those businesses who specifically want to offer direct deposit to their employees and complete their tax payments online. “We discovered a need for businesses who wanted to offer the convenience of direct deposit and eliminate the cost of cutting checks but didn’t need all the bells and whistles that come with our Deluxe product. This Small Business package fills that need,” explains Yochum. The Small Business Package is now available by contacting your Business Banking Officer.
