Tip #28 – Use price-protection guarantees to always get the lowest price (travel, retail)
Oftentimes this applies to expensive purchases. If you buy something and the price goes down, the company will refund you the difference if they offer price-protection. What you may not know is that your credit card may offer this as a perk. Items purchased with your card may be eligible for protection against accidental damage or theft up to 90 days from the date of purchase. They may even offer a price match refund if the item you purchased is advertised within 60 days at a lower price. It’s up to you to research this of course.
Many travel sites also offer price guarantees on flights if the price drops, check out Orbitz and Yapta. For retail purchases, check out PriceProtectr, which lets you enter your purchases from 150 stores and automatically monitors the prices to see if you’re eligible for price-protection refunds. Focus on the big 5-10 purchases you make per year to realize the most savings.
