Tip #24 – Cut your commute expenses by 40%

Depending where you live carpooling may not be realistic for you, but if you live nearby someone else that works near where you do, it’s a great option for saving money and wear and tear on your vehicle. You don’t need to do it 5 days a week to realize savings. Even if you carpooled just one day a week, that’s 50 days a year and about $465 in savings over 1 year.

Another option you might consider to cut down on commuting expenses is to ask your employer if you can work from home. With technology today, many jobs are easily done from home and many people claim they’re more productive when not distracted by a traditional office environment. They may not go for you working from home all week, but even a day or two per week would cut down on your expenses and possibly increase your productivity.
