Tip #9 – Only buy new things when replacing something old

For example if you need to have 15 business shirts and you think you need a new one. Make sure you’re throwing the oldest away before purchasing the new shirt. Before buying anything, think “how many of those do I need?” and “how many do I already have?” then think again if you really need a new one. If you do, then consider what to do with the old, either giving it away or throwing it in the trash. This tip is twofold in that it decreases clutter and it helps to keep you focused on your goal of saving money by forcing you to decide what you’re going to purchase prior to shopping for it and decreasing impulse buying.
